September 14th to the 23rd marks Welcoming Week in our community, a
time to celebrate all who call Pinellas County home. Largo Public Library will
be celebrating by holding a month-long donation drive September 1st through September 30th.

Just like last year’s Welcoming Week Donation Drive, we are hoping to collect
new and unused items to put together different Welcome Baskets. These welcome kits provide the essential household items refugees need for their
new start in a place of safety.  Last year we were able to put together over 100
Welcome Baskets with everything from kitchen items to baby items.

The celebration is part of a nation-wide effort to raise awareness about the economic, cultural, and social benefi ts of a diverse community and to bring together immigrants, refugees, and native-born residents.

Welcoming Week is spearheaded by Largo Public Library and the Tampa Bay
Refugee Task Force, in collaboration with Pinellas Park Public Library, Clearwater Public Library System, UMCM Suncoast, the Woman’s Club of Upper Pinellas and hundreds of Pinellas County residents.
