News for You Online has easy-to-read news stories that can help you learn English. Seven new stories are posted each Wednesday, along with audio, exercises, vocabulary, a crossword puzzle, and a poll. Listen to each story in full or sentence-by-sentence. Click on any story to get started or to see and hear a sample. The password is on the front page of the current issue in the library.
Simple English News is for advanced students - news and feature stories in short paragraphs for reading while you listen.

ESL Self-Study
Cambridge English Language Learning - Interactive lessons from the Cambridge Ventures series. Good companion site for students using the Ventures textbooks. Can also use as a stand-alone online program.
Easy Stories for English Learners with Video and Audio - Help students develop their reading and listening skills in English with stories centered around topics of interest to them, including Health & Safety, Working, School, Family, Money, and more. The site, created by the California Distance Learning Project, has a wealth of stories under each topic area. Some also have video. The stories show the text, and students can read the text while listening to the audio. Stories are accompanied by practice activities.
ESL Gold has lots of resources for students and teachers - hundreds of lessons including common phrases for conversation, grammar, idioms, vocabulary, pronunciation, etc.
OM Personal is a good site for Spanish speaking students at beginning level. More than 50 conversations on variety of topics with written transcripts, photos and quizzes.
Real English has video interviews of real life English speakers that teach basic listening, vocabulary, and grammar.
TEDTalks has a wide variety of videos of academic lectures. Good practice for TOEFL and advanced students.

Purdue Owl Writing Lab is a good website for reference. This page is an example of a specific topic that you could cover in a class. Look through the list of topics in the left-hand column for other ideas, especially grammar. To print the page scroll down to the bottom and click on the printer icon. U.S. Citizenship
USCIS Citizenship Resource Center is the primary source for official information on naturalization requirements, the citizenship application, and the citizenship test. Includes study tools for the English and Civics tests.

The Minnesota Literacy Council is a free on-line citizenship course that includes audio practice for the civics and literacy tests and videos that show beginning-level students answering personal interview questions.
