What are the policies to get a library card?
To obtain a card at the Largo Public Library, a patron must be a Pinellas County resident or property owner and provide a valid Florida driver's license, Florida identification card, or picture ID with their name and current address. Library staff may access the Pinellas County Tax Collector's database to verify property information, however some condominiums and mobile homes are not registered in the database. If the picture identification does not indicate the patron's current local address, one of the following must also be presented:
- a current TRIM notice or tax bill
- a printed long-term lease (over 7 months) on property within the Cooperative area
- a deed to property in the Cooperative area
- a vehicle/mobile home registration or title (for the current year)
- a homestead exemption form
- a voter's registration card
- a current utility bill (electric, water, cable) (only if non-current ID is from Florida)

DVD checkout is allowed on a child card at the parent's discretion. Grandparents must be legal guardians to acquire a card for a grandchild. Legal guardians must show guardianship papers.
- Children 15 and older may be issued a computer use only card if they have their own ID or a 3forMe card.
- The Parent or guardian listed on juvenile accounts is responsible for all library fines and materials.
How much is a visitor card?
If a patron does not qualify to obtain a resident card, and is not a reciprocal borrower they are considered a visitor and must purchase a Pinellas Public Library Cooperative visitor card (unless they own property in the cooperative area).
- Visitor cards are $25 for three months or $50 for six months.
- A white paid card is issued and the card can be used at all Pinellas County libraries.
- Patrons who are purchasing a 3-month or 6-month visitor card must show a current ID, but do not have to show any documentation with the address they are staying at locally.

Patrons who have Indian Rocks Beach library cards AND live in Indian Rocks Beach are considered reciprocal borrowers and their IRB cards may be registered in Largo's database. If they have a library card from Indian Rocks Beach but live in Indian Shores, they are not considered reciprocal borrowers and must pay for a $100 PPLC Annual Fee card.
I lost my library card. What do I do?
Patrons who have lost or misplaced a library card must show a picture ID to replace their library card. The ID does not have to have the correct address in order to issue a replacement card, nor do fines need to be paid. The cost is $1 for a replacement card.
For their protection, a picture ID must be presented by patron's picking up lost cards that have been turned in to the library.

What happens if I lost an item?
When an item is lost, the patron must pay for it. As set forth in the City of Largo Fee Ordinance, the amount charged is determined by one of the following methods:
- the list price as stated in the bibliographic database,
- the current retail price, or
- the price determined by the librarian (usually in the case of an item that is part of a set or is out of print).
A $5 processing fee will be added.
Patrons may not purchase replacements or substitutions from outside vendors.
Largo Public Library does not issue refunds once an item is paid for. If the patron finds the paid for item, they may keep it or give it back to the library to add back into the collection.
Damaged materials are treated in the same manner as lost materials. Damage is assessed by library staff and a determination is made as to whether the materials can be repaired or must be replaced. Written notice is sent to the patron stating the damage done and advising the patron as to the price to repair or replace. These items will be held for 28 days for the patron to view. Patrons can obtain damaged materials if the full replacement cost is paid. If there is no response to this notice, the item will be discarded.
When cooperative materials are lost or damaged, the library to which the materials were returned may accept replacement/damage fines on materials and return fines to the owning library. The owning library will be contacted first to determine additional charges.
