English Language Learning

The English Language Learning program at Largo Public Library is a free public service for adult students who want to learn English and improve their language skills.

  • The library has a wide collection of English language resources, including books, CDs, DVDs and multimedia language kits.
  • Study rooms are available for classes and tutoring sessions.  

Learn, Share, Volunteer

One-to-One Tutoring Classes

Classes are taught by volunteer tutors who have completed a training course in ESL teaching techniques. 
  • Classes are free
  • Tutors and learners are required to make a commitment of two hours per week for six months
  • Schedules are flexible

Conversation Club
  • Weekly drop-in classes
  • Classes are free
    • Tuesdays 6:00PM - 7:30PM
    • Thursdays 3:45PM - 5:15PM
  • No registration or waitlist
  • You can attend either or both days
  • Different leaders and topics each day
Adult English Classes
In collaboration with Pinellas County Schools, this program will help adults speak, write, and read English in a classroom setting. 
  • Registration is required and is continuous throughout the semester
  • There is a $45 fee for each six-month term of enrollment

Citizenship and Naturalization Preparation Classes

Are you a legal, permanent resident of the United States? Do you want to become a U.S. Citizen?

  • We can help! We will prepare you for the naturalization process with instruction in Civics & U.S. History and practice for the Citizenship Interview.
  • Classes are taught by Learning Empowered Citizenship instructors.
    • Mondays & Wednesdays 6:00-8:00pm
